The Tunnel of Love

The 'Tunnel of Love' photo above is a real place.  A favorite of lovers and photographers alike, this green living tunnel was formed by trains traveling through the forest and bending the greenery to their shape.

Located in Klevan, Ukraine this tunnel has it's own legend. Local lore says that a pair of lovers strolling through the tunnel who make a heartfelt wish will have their wish come true if they are sincere in their love.

But this tunnel is not just a favorite of lovers, photographers love it as well.  Winter, spring, summer or fall this tunnel is a gorgeous sight. So buy your tickets to the Ukraine, just be sure to check the train's schedule before you go walking on the tracks!

Tintype Portraits

OK, I admit, this is not the tintype photo you'd want to use for your wedding save the dates but just a heads up that you can get your portrait made by Keliy Anderson-Staley.

Keliy Anderson-Staley will make you a part of her ongoing series when she sets up a tintype portrait studio in the garden at The Print Center, Latimer Street, Philadelphia PA on Saturday, June 25, 2011, 1:00-5:30 PM.  What's a tintype you ask?  Tintypes are photographic images exposed directly onto blackened metal.  Tintype was the leading type of photography in the 1850-1860's.

Philadelphia and the surrounding area once had many commercial portrait studios that used this technique.  This event celebrates the history of those studios, the art of tintype photography and the role of this antiquated process in contemporary photography.

The metal plates and digital prints of the images will be available that day free of charge.  Space is limited so register early. RSVP here.

Think how interesting your save the dates would look using these photos! Keep in mind that historically tintype subjects were not smiling but presented a serious face to the world, so if you're looking for a photo showing off your pearly whites, this isn't for you.  And don't forget this event mentions my favorite word--FREE! And since most brides are trying to save money the word FREE is very attractive.  So register now at their web site.

Also keep in mind The Print Center is available for rent for smaller events--think your wedding--if you are looking for a small venue with a very reasonable cost in Center City Philadelphia.  See their web site for rental fees, regulations and caterers.

Oh Baby! What A Wedding Photo!

I've seen a lot of unique ways to show off your wedding bands but this adorable photo by Kelly Cardona Photography is a perfect way to display your rings in your photos if you have a baby you can beg, borrow or steal for a photo op!  If you have a newborn of your own or a cute niece, nephew or baby of a friend, take advantage of their adorable infant and let them show off your wedding bands.  What better way to include them in your wedding photos if they're too young to be a flower girl or ring bearer but you want to include them in your wedding day.
