Jeweled Pumpkins For Autumn Weddings

Photo courtesy of Kathy the creative genius behind Life On Lakeshore Drive

Jeweled pumpkins are perfect for an autumn wedding. This pumpkin, designed by Kathy at Life On Lakeshore Drive, is made from a fake white pumpkin (is there any other kind for a DIY project that you want to be able to make ahead of time for your wedding?) and a scrapbook decal from the local hobby store. The hardest part? Carefully applying the decal. For details on how to make this perfect wedding accent, visit Kathy's blog. I'm in awe Kathy! Nice work.

More pumpkin ideas here, and here, and here, and here, and here. More pumpkins and/or gourd centerpieces for autumn looks are posted here, and here (one of my favorites), and here. OK, I guess you have plenty of pumpkin ideas to work with. Let me know if you have any great ideas, link them in the comments, always love your input.

Easy Economical DIY Centerpiece

Photo courtesy of Amore Event Design

Anchor silk flowers using clear floral marbles is a glass or vase of water, add a floating candle and voila! an easy economical centerpiece. Add some votive candles is a coordinating color or the same color as the flowers and you have a great centerpiece.

Be sure to test the glasses out to be sure they are able to withstand the heat of the floating candles, I've seen centerpieces shatter when the glass was not meant to withstand the heat of candles burning.

Sequins and Wedding Centerpieces

Photo courtesy of The Glitter Guide

Planning on making your own sequin centerpieces for your wedding? Are you looking for something to add some glitz and glam? Why not make these little vases filled with sequins in the water, and then just add a single flower. Voila!

You can choose any flower, it doesn't have to be a rose, just something that will coordinate with your other wedding colors. You can mix and match colors, they don't all have to be the same hue, switch some out, one color for the bride's friend, one for the groom. Or just have a different color for each table. Have fun making these sequined centerpieces for your wedding (or other special occasion.)

Low Cost Centerpieces

Trying to plan a low cost centerpiece? Do a take off of this lantern with candles and a gold runner instead of flowers. for your wedding. This look is upscale without the high cost of fresh flowers. It also lets you use candlelight at your reception (flattering for everyone!)

One caveat, be sure to check with your venue to see if they allow candlelight. If they don't, consider purchasing battery operated candles. They aren't as pretty in daylight but are a good option for evening. Buy them in bulk from Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Enjoy browsing through Style Me Pretty for other great ideas for your wedding day.

Candle Centerpiece with Bling

Photo couresy of http://best-decor.com/

Having a wedding that needs some sparkle?  Try this "refined wrought-iron candle stand" that boasts a glamorous dash of old-time European elegance! Slender ivory curlicues form an attractive support for a thick pillar candle.  It is lavishly decorated with swags of glittering crystals that will turn the light into a dancing diamond display.  So kick up the bling with this centerpiece.  Under ten dollars for the stand, more for the candle.  Scatter some loose crystals and petals around on the tabletop or place on top of a mirror.

Looking for an Inexpensive Centerpiece?

Try some pretty Moroccan Lanters.  These lanterns are widely available on the internet and in stores like Pier One, and most are under $20.   Their lacey designs with a candle inside provide a nice accent piece that you can put in the center of your table and surround with rose petals or other simple accents.  Try a few fake jewels if you're having a jewel tone wedding.

Cupcake Topiary Tree

Photograph courtesy of Food Network Magazine/Taken by Tara Donne

Considering using cupcakes in lieu of cake at your wedding? Why not have them do double duty as decorations as well?  This Cupcake Topiary Tree was featured in Food Network Magazine in their May 2010 issue.

To make your Cupcake Topiary Tree you'll need:

1 Terracotta  pot
Floral Foam
12 inch floral foam ball
12 inch dowel
Brown Paint
Pink Paint
Mini cupcake liners 24
Straight Pins
Toothpicks

Directions:
Fill the terracotta pot with floral foam, and insert a 12 inch dowel or thick stick in foam.  If you're using a dowel you'll need to paint it brown before placing it.  Paint a 12 inch floral foam ball pink and let dry.  This can take an hour, be sure it's all the way dry.  Push the ball down onto the dowel that's already been anchored into the pot.  Using straight pins and cupcake papers to plot your cupcake design, then place real cupcakes in each spot removing the pins and papers used for plotting as you go.  Attach cupcakes using 3 toothpicks poked halfway into the bottom of each cupcake and press them into the ball.
