What Will Your Flower Girl Wear?

Photos courtesy of: http://www.cameobaby.com/; Dresses available on their web site.
Dresses are available in a variety of styles and sizes.

Choosing a dress for your flower girl can be almost as complex as choosing your bridal gown.  Colors, length, design, all come into play.  Also you have a mom to deal with as well as your flower girl.  We highly recommend to determine what you want before going to the store with your flower girl in tow.  Maybe bring along your maid of honor to help nudge her toward the dress you want her to wear.  This way she'll feel like you're letting her make the choice but you are actually making it for her; otherwise you risk ending up with a dress that doesn't suit the rest of your wedding.

Who Wears Boutonnieres?

Photos courtesy of: http://www.floralartvt.com

Wedding flower decisions are pretty straight forward: a bouquet for the bride and her attendants, flowers for the ceremony, table centerpieces, but the personal flowers such as boutonnieres and corsages tend to be more of a personal choice and are up to the bride and groom.  Some opt for no boutonnieres at all.

In general boutonnieres are worn by the groom, groomsmen, fathers, grandfathers, ushers and ring bearers as well as your officiant if you are not having a religious ceremony. Corsages are traditionally given to mothers & grandmothers, although you can substitute a small bouquet for the mother of the bride/groom.

You may also want to include any siblings that aren’t in the wedding party and their spouses, readers, singers and other important family members including step-parents.

Personal flowers are a perfect way of acknowledging people close to you on your wedding day.

Wine and Your Wedding

If you have a venue that lets you bring your own wine don't forget to figure in the cost of the corkage fee.  Some venues charge as much as $10-20 dollars per bottle!  While this seems steep, don't forget to figure in the cost differential.  So if you figure the venue markup for wine, possibly as much as 60% of the cost, you can save yourself some money buying a $15 bottle of wine and paying the corkage fee.  So don't be shy about asking what their corkage fee is before making this important decision.  Also consider asking your store for a discount for buying in bulk and/or the convenience of returning any wine not opened after the wedding.  Depending on where you live you may be able to buy from an adjoining state and save by avoiding sales tax or paying a lower tax.  Don't throw away money just because you're uncomfortable asking, this could save you money you'd rather spend elsewhere!

Also for some reason most wines venues choose are domestic, and you can usually get a better buy by purchasing an imported wine of a similar quality.  Chilean Sauvignon Blanc or some nice Sicilian vintages are available for as little as $10.  Often a comparable domestic wine is going to cost you 5-10 dollars more.
