Fancy Cupcakes?

Fancy cupcakes that zing? Try Pop Rocks cupcakes. What a nice surprise at your wedding shower! I love them in pinks, but you can use any color Pop Rocks available to match your color scheme. Or you CAN make your own rock candy, color it to match your color scheme, and crush it so it resembles Pop Rocks. I love the way the pinks are different colors in this photo, it makes a nice photo not to mention an attractive presentation for your dessert buffet. So enjoy making your Pop Rocks cupcakes. For a recipe visit Betty Crocker.

Peacock Cupcakes

Peacock cupcakes from classifieds.weddingbee.com

Bride today frequently choose a peacock theme or color combination for their weddings. And there are a variety of cupcakes and/or wedding cakes to compliment those themes. These cupcakes all give the bride having a peacock theme wedding some great choices for cakes for their guests.

Peacock cupcake from Share My Party

Some of the cupcake flavors vary, some of the icing types vary, but they all have one thing in common--peacock coloring. The blue and purple hues make peacock feather coloring perfect for decorating or using as a wedding theme.

Cupcakes go from the simple to the ornate, some taking significant amounts of preparation time and design. It would be difficult to choose my favorite of all the peacock inspired desserts, what do you think?

Whether the baker is your Aunt Mary or one of the creative geniuses on Etsy, or your local caterer or bakery, cupcakes add some color and flavor to your wedding day. Be sure to provide your guests with boxes to take home your creations in case they want to save them for later.

DIY Wedding Cupcakes

Video courtesy of YouTube by Simply Sweets by HoneyBee

Many brides today are opting for serving a variety of wedding cupcakes instead of a large, multi-tiered wedding cake. Simply Sweets by HoneyBee posted this great tutorial on their website as well as on YouTube to teach even the most klutzy baker how to make gorgeous cupcakes that would be perfect for a wedding.

She not only shows you how to do it but explains which type and brand of tip to use (a lifesaver for the non-professional bakers out here!) and shows us what the tip looks like (in case you have drawer full and can't quite remember which one does what.

My personal favorite is the first one she shows, but a combination of these would make a perfect display for your sweet table. You could alternate cupcake flavors as well as icing designs and make it look like you'd hired the Magnolia Bakery to ship your cupcakes to your venue. Nothing like serving the creme de la creme of cupcakes (or at least what look like they are) at your wedding reception.  (as an aside, if you want to order your cupcakes and have Magnolia's catering department will ship wedding cupcakes to you they have an option for those of you who are not DIYers.)

You can either serve these to your guests in lieu of a slice of cake or your can provide boxes for your guests to take home their own remembrance of your wedding day to eat later. One favor that never gets left behind is a cupcake.

Choose some easy take out boxes for your guests or have one of the reception staff box up cupcakes to hand to your guests as they leave. You should have one cupcake per guest, not per couple.

Cupcakes: The New Wedding Cake?

Sometimes you see food that is a work of art. These cupcakes fit that description perfectly! Unfortunately the photo was on Pinterest and the link there doesn't work on my computer, try it on yours, maybe you'll be luckier! I love these! Would order them for my daughter's wedding if she hadn't already placed her order. These are so delicate and perfect for a wedding.

And then we have these gorgeous daffodil cupcakes. Perfect for a spring wedding. Nothing says spring like daffodils and I've never seen them on cupcakes before. These grabbed my eye immediately! Working on how to make the fondant flowers myself. The small ones are probably harder than the larger ones, but the combination of the two sizes makes a great display.

The above combination of gold, pink and blue iced cupcakes with delicate florals topping them are incredible! The designs and textures differ from cupcake to cupcake, each one showing off a different skill of the baker. Now, which one to try first? Hmm...

And finally the perfect white floral cupcake with silver dragees in the centers. I love how the baker showed off the cupcake by tying a ribbon around the base of each cupcake and presenting them on their own tiny cupcake plate.

Will cupcakes replace wedding cakes entirely? I still like seeing the traditional wedding cake, but love seeing a smaller wedding cake surrounded by these smaller wedding wonders! What do you think? Big cakes? cupcakes? combination of the two?

Double-Decker Cupcakes For Your Wedding

This double-decker angel food cupcake with it's boutique cupcake paper is perfect for a wedding. It looks just like an asymmetrical wedding cake! This cupcake was an entry in a contest and was created by The Insomniac Baker. (The recipe is on the Baker's web page linked previously. Photos also courtesy of The Insomniac Baker.)

Try out this combination of angel food cake and meringue with gelato! Two fluffy angel food cupcakes with meringue gelato in the middle and a smooth, Swiss meringue buttercream on top, with a sweet little meringue cookie to top it all off--perfection! These are an ice cream cupcake though so your caterer will need to assemble them on site and they won't work for a sweet table. You could probably adapt the recipe to use something other than the gelato if you wanted to use them for a sweet table display.
