Love this DIY wedding project. It's a 'HERS' flag for this groom carries down the aisle! Of course the bride has a matching one that reads 'HIS.'

 

These are easy to make with some simple felt, Elmer's glue, and ribbon wrapped dowels. Dress it up by adding some light weight silk flowers and changing out the ribbon colors.

 

Don't want to take the time to make it yourself? Your florist can certainly make one easily enough for you.

DIY Black Glitter Champagne Glasses

These DIY black glitter champagne glasses are tied with a simple satin bow and are easy to make at home and they will add a touch of glamour to your black tie wedding. Do his in black and hers in white, or all black. For a daytime wedding choose coordinating colors or use all white.

Mint Fudge Brownie Parfaits--DIY Wedding Favors In a Jar

Directions to Your Wedding--An Easy to Make Sign

The sign above is something any bride can easily make ahead of time to direct the guests to the location of an oudoor wedding.  A simple board (available from your craft store), some wooden letters (if you're very handy or your fiance is, cut your own) these can also be purchased from your craft store.  Some paint to coordinate with your colors, and add some flowers.  Put the board on a stake, attach the flowers, and you're ready to go!  Another signature project for your wedding.  You can also make other signs the same way.

A History of Jordan Almonds

Sugared Jordan Almonds, also known as confetti or dragees are a candy favor that is used as a wedding favor.

The origin of confetti comes from ancient Rome where births and marriages were celebrated with a form of confetti.  However up until the time of the Renaissance confetti were made from honey.  It was only with the introduction of sugar cane in the fifteenth century that modern confetti were born.  The 'modern' era confetti were real sweetmeats made from dried fruits, cinnamon, pine nuts, hazelnuts, almonds and candied fruits.  These were served at many important banquets.

The first literary reference to confetti was in Boccaccio's Decameron in the early 1350's.  The common use of it was recorded from the late middle ages to the Reanissance.  In the mid-1400's there is a reference to a wedding banquet for Lucrezia Borgi and Alfonso D'Este, son  of Ercole I, Duke of Ferrara, where more than two hundred and sixty pounds of confetti were consumed.  (My stomach aches just thinking about it!)

In the 18th and 19th centuries the use of confetti spread throughout Italy.  And the first modern confetti factories were begun in the region of Abruzzo, which has remained the confetti capital ever since.  In 1783 it became known as the confetti capital due to the skill of a single family according to a simple recipe that remains unchanged today.

Many modern brides still give confetti as wedding favors, some electing to make their own, others purchasing them from one of the many companies that sell pre-made wedding favors.

Making Your Own Bird Seed Bags

So, your wedding location will let you throw birdseed, but you don't want to pay someone to provide these for you? Directions for making your own as simple and easy to do. You and your bridesmaids or family can easily make an evening out of it and have fun at the same time.
To make wedding birdseed bags start with small throw pouches made of tulle. Pre-made pouches for birdseed can be purchased in a variety of colors at your local Party City or other party planning store. Or make your own tulle throw pouches, these can be made in tulle matching the wedding colors or just from rainbow pastels. They birdseed bags should measure about 3” x 4”. Close them at the top with a drawstring in a matching or coordinating color. You can make your own custom blend of seeds for birds in your area or just buy a bag of generic seed from the food or hardware store. You might want to use a funnel to put the seed into the bag.
