Sequins and Wedding Centerpieces

Photo courtesy of The Glitter Guide

Planning on making your own sequin centerpieces for your wedding? Are you looking for something to add some glitz and glam? Why not make these little vases filled with sequins in the water, and then just add a single flower. Voila!

You can choose any flower, it doesn't have to be a rose, just something that will coordinate with your other wedding colors. You can mix and match colors, they don't all have to be the same hue, switch some out, one color for the bride's friend, one for the groom. Or just have a different color for each table. Have fun making these sequined centerpieces for your wedding (or other special occasion.)

Paper Blooms

I found great paper flower tutorials on Knuckle Salad, a great site for foodies and crafters. Kristina's directions on how to make six different types of paper flowers is invaluable. You can use them alone or mix and match them as you like. Enjoy reading the rest of the site for other great entertaining ideas. I love finding someone who offers my readers a lot of great creative and/or tasty content, a site that offers both is a real bonus. Read the directions as well as the comments before you start your flowers. The follow up comments are very helpful too. If you manage to master these paper blooms you'll save mega $$$ on your flower costs for your wedding. Congrats to Kristen and Knuckle Salad!

Gorgeous Gift Bags--To Buy or DIY

These gorgeous gift bags are from Studio Daedre where they were designed and handmade for Trista and Ryan's wedding of Bachelorette/The Bachelor fame.  If these are a little too pricey for you consider using them as an inspiration for your own DIY bags.  Cut the background out in a pastel color rectangle.  Make cartoons at Zwinky web site that resemble you and your groom, and use calligraphy to add your names and the date below them.  Use a glitter border and then paste them to the bags.  Add some pretty ribbon (see Michael's on sale) and some tissue paper (Dollar Store variety instead of fance design seen in photo).  A lot of work? Yes.  Gorgeous? Definitely!

Jones Soda With Personalized Labels

Photo courtesy of Jones Soda at http://myjones.com/

Jones Soda will personalize bottles of their fabulous soda for you, but the only problem is it's almost thirty dollars for twelve, a pretty pricey wedding favor.  Instead purchase cases of their soda at less than half that price and make your own labels.  Choose your favorite soda or a combination of flavors so guests have an option.  Be sure to ask for discounts if you are buying this in bulk.  Most stores will offer you a discount for large bulk purchases.  If the first place you try won't do it, just keep trying.  Even a 10% discount when you're planning a wedding adds up in a hurry.

Directions to Your Wedding--An Easy to Make Sign

The sign above is something any bride can easily make ahead of time to direct the guests to the location of an oudoor wedding.  A simple board (available from your craft store), some wooden letters (if you're very handy or your fiance is, cut your own) these can also be purchased from your craft store.  Some paint to coordinate with your colors, and add some flowers.  Put the board on a stake, attach the flowers, and you're ready to go!  Another signature project for your wedding.  You can also make other signs the same way.

Lazertran Waterslide Decals Can Turn Any Object Into a Work of Art

(Photo Courtesy of Sweet Paul's Blog at http://sweetpaul.typepad.com/)

Want to make a personal favor for your wedding? Look for projects using Lazertran Waterslide Decals. You can use these great decals to put your artwork or photos almost anywhere. You can transfer photos or artwork (art can be scanned or digitally produced). Make coasters, candles, bowls, vases, glasses anything you can think of!

This revolutionary new product lets you transfer any design to almost any surface with incredible results. You can use Lazertran by inkjet or photocopying your color images onto Lazertran paper, then just heat set or seal the toner or ink, cut it to the correct size, soak and slide onto your project. Smooth out air bubbles and let dry for a day.

If you want to transfer the image to a fabric just iron on the decal, let it cool off, and then soak it until the paper falls away.

Lazertran make three types of waterslide decals. The original Lazertran was designed to work with dry toner color and the decals are applied to hard surfaces. If you don’t have a laser printer, this means having color copies made at your local copy center or finding a friend with a laser printer. Take the package instructions with you in case the copy center personnel object to printing on your Lazertran paper.

Because most transfer papers are heat-activated at fairly low temperatures and the glues can melt and jam the copier some copy centers may not want to do the job. However, Original Lazertran, is specially designed to be used with color copiers. The film and glue won't melt when run through the hot copier.

For hard surfaces, the company has introduced Lazertran Inkjet; now you can make decals using your desktop inkjet printer. Lazertran Inkjet has some special qualities or quirks. There are some trade-offs for the convenience of being able to print decals on your inkjet printer in the comfort and convenience of your own home.

Lazertran Silk was made for closely woven fabrics. Like the Original Lazertran, Lazertran Silk is designed to work with dry toners.

Unlike Original Lazertran, Silk does not have a thin film that carries the color to its new home, so it’s not technically a decal. Rather Lazertran Silk is ironed onto the silk or other closely woven fabric. The iron’s heat melts the toners and deposits them onto the fabric. Since there is no decal film and no gooey glue, the original hand and softness of the fabric are preserved.

Lazertran Silk has no glue to gum up the copier’s works. Still a good idea to take the package instructions with you to the copy center, in case there are any questions. Lazertran Silk decorated fabric is washable if the fabric itself is.
