While your guest may be accustomed to seeing ice carvings at receptions, fruit carvings will grab their attention and keep them talking about your wedding reception. 

Fruit carvings are not a do it yourself project unless you have had plenty of practice. This is one wedding accent that it pays to hire a professional to execute.

Amanda Jane Brown and her My Hearts Desire Blog (Later renamed Amanda Jane Brown) offer these great ideas for fall table centerpieces. These are easy and less expensive to make than typical floral centerpieces.

Use things like dried beans, coffee and popcorn depending on your color combination. Add some ribbon or twine or even some silk leaves to bling out your centerpiece. Add a white candle and you are good to go.

Looking for a brilliant centerpiece for your children's table or for your candy buffet at your wedding? Or maybe for a bridal shower? How about this topiary made of Dum Dums? Love the colors and just hand out some toothbrushes to everyone on the way out! (kidding!)

Just check some of my other topiary DIY projects if you can't figure out how to pull this off. It's easy! Possibly the easiest topiary I've ever posted because the Dums Dums already have sticks attached so they're easy to insert into Styrofoam.  Have fun!

Is One Enough? Are Three Too Many?

Looking for a unique centerpiece?  Try this three tier fishbowl centerpiece from Woodyatt Warner.  Not up to a tall three tiered centerpiece?  Not to worry. 

Woodyatt Warner makes them in one tier as well.  There are easy to coordinate with wedding colors and themes and when placed on a circular mirror are real showpieces. 

If you're creative you can make them yourself.  Just pick up some inexpensive fishbowls and whatever you are planning for the inside from your favorite craft store, I like Michaels.  Use real flowers, silks or foam flowers.  It's all up to you.  If you like feathers this is a perfect way to display them, curved around the interior of the fishbowl.  No live fish added please!

Cupcake Topiary Tree

Considering using cupcakes in lieu of cake at your wedding? Why not have them do double duty as decorations as well?  This Cupcake Topiary Tree was featured in Food Network Magazine in their May 2010 issue. 

To make your Cupcake Topiary Tree you'll need:

1 Terracotta  pot
Floral Foam
12 inch floral foam ball
12 inch dowel
Brown Paint
Pink Paint
Mini cupcake liners 24
Straight Pins
Toothpicks

Directions:
Fill the terracotta pot with floral foam, and insert a 12 inch dowel or thick stick in foam.  If you're using a dowel you'll need to paint it brown before placing it.  Paint a 12 inch floral foam ball pink and let dry.  This can take an hour, be sure it's all the way dry.  Push the ball down onto the dowel that's already been anchored into the pot.  Using straight pins and cupcake papers to plot your cupcake design, then place real cupcakes in each spot removing the pins and papers used for plotting as you go.  Attach cupcakes using 3 toothpicks poked halfway into the bottom of each cupcake and press them into the ball.
